A devastating drunk driving crash near San Antonio TX last weekend killed a 24 year old man who just an hour earlier had been approved for US citizenship.

He and his wife, who was 4 months pregnant, were driving home on Highway 21 near San Antonio when a car coming the opposite direction crossed the median and slammed into their Toyota Corolla.

That driver has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault. Witnesses reported that the 21 year old driver was seen rolling a bottle of alcohol under a parked car after the wreck.

Her husband died at the scene, and the woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries. However, two days after the fatal DUI wreck, she delivered her stillborn son.

The alleged drunk driver is a Texas State Student and is 21 years old. She allegedly was driving home after riding a water tube down the Guadelupe River, where she possibly drank alcohol.

Our View

Our drunk driving lawyers send our condolences to this woman who lost her husband and son to a terrible DUI accident. We wish we could understand why some people commit such a selfish and dangerous act as drink and drive.

While there is little anyone can do to prevent foolish people from doing foolish things, as drunk driving attorneys, we do our best. What we do in drunk driving cases is file civil lawsuits on the behalf of the injured, or as in the above case, on the behalf of the surviving family. A wrongful death lawsuit that costs the defendant millions of dollars is a good message to send to the public: Drunk driving is a crime and if you do it, you will pay with both jail time and massive financial penalties.
