A 22 year old woman died in a single car accident in Centreville, Virginia on Dec. 22, and a man was charged with DUI for allegedly causing the accident.

The alleged DUI driver was speeding in the southbound lane of Ordway Road in Centreville at 1 am when he crossed the double yellow line to illegally pass a vehicle. He lost control of the vehicle, it ran off the road and flipped. The woman was the sole passenger and she was ejected from the car.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police stated that speed and alcohol were factors in the deadly Virginia accident.

Our View

Our Virginia personal injury attorneys wish we never had to see another drunk driving accident that kills an innocent person. Unfortunately, DUI crashes happen every day across Virginia, and often cause serious injury or death. We hope that the driver is punished to the fullest extent of the law, if found guilty.

We also hope that the family of the deceased will consider filing a Virginia wrongful death lawsuit so that they can hopefully receive compensation for the loss of their loved one. In DUI crashes with serious injury or death, a large settlement or verdict can help the family to recover from the devastating loss of a loved one. One of our drunk driving personal injury lawyers won a $3.5 million jury verdict in 2015 in a Newport News, Virginia drunk driving crash. Those funds have helped the woman who was seriously injured to recover.
