I was born to blog. I have only recently come to this realization. As the editor of the Norfolk and Portsmouth, Virginia (VA) Injuryboard blog website for the past year I have had a great time blogging about personal injury subjects.
My law firm Hajek, Shapiro, Cooper, Lewis, and Appleton based in Virginia Beach, Virginia (VA) has handled automobile accident and FELA cases for many years. Recently, we have put a lot of energy into our marketing to try to develop case leads for people who need a personal injury lawyer in Norfolk / Virginia Beach, Virginia (VA) and throughout the southeastern United States. My law partner, Rick Shapiro, is the editor of the Injuryboard blog website for Virginia Beach, Virginia (VA). When he and folks at the Injuryboard asked me to become editor of this website, I did not know anything about blogging. Frankly, it sounded like a big expenditure of energy without much reward. I found it to be just the opposite.
Everyday I wake up with fresh ideas about personal injury law and topics that I can write about. I get to write the short articles that I hope contain useful information for people searching for a personal injury attorney in Norfolk, Virginia (VA) and Portsmouth, Virginia (VA). I have always loved writing. I get out my dictation machine and record my thoughts on a topic having to do with personal injury practice or wrongful death cases. I know a lot about this subject because I have been practicing law emphasizing personal injury for over 18 years. Then I get to use my editing skills to take the rough draft and finalize it to be placed on the website. I find I really enjoy this form of expression. My goal is to post one article about a personal injury topic on my Norfolk/Portsmouth, Virginia (VA) Injuryboard website everyday. I am proud of my body of work which I believe provides useful information to the general public and particularly for people who have been in a recent car accident or other situation where they have been hurt. I enjoy sharing what I know about a field of law that I have developed expertise in. Also, when I go to Google or some other search engine and type in “Norfolk, Virginia (VA) injury lawyer”, I am proud to see my name and this website pop up as one of the first page of internet information and best sources about personal injury in Virginia (VA).
Rick Shapiro has practiced personal injury law for over 30 years in Virginia, North Carolina, and throughout the Southeastern United States. He is a Board-Certified Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (ABA Accredited) and has litigated injury cases throughout the eastern United States, including wrongful death, trucking, faulty products, railroad, and medical negligence claims. During his three-decade career, Shapiro has won client appeals before the VA Supreme Court, VA Court of Appeals, NC Supreme Court, SC Supreme Court, WV Supreme Court, TN Supreme Court, and three times before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, underscoring Shapiro’s trial achievements. In addition, he and his law firm have won settlements/verdicts in excess of $100 million. His success in and out of the courtroom is a big reason why he was named 2019 “Lawyer of the Year” in railroad law in U.S. News & World Report's Best Lawyers publication (Norfolk, VA area), and he has been named a “Best Lawyer” and “Super Lawyer” by those peer-reviewed organizations for multiple years. Rick was also named a “Leader in the Law, Class of 2022” by Virginia Lawyers Weekly (total of 33 statewide honorees consisting of lawyers and judges across Virginia). And in September 2023, Rick was selected as a recipient of the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA) 2023 President’s Award. Although many nominations were submitted from across the country, Rick was just one of eight attorneys chosen by the prestigious National Board which certifies civil trial attorneys across the U.S. Rick was also recently named to Virginia Lawyers Weekly 2024 Virginia’s Go To Lawyers Medical Malpractice. The attorneys awarded this honor are nominated by their colleagues and chosen by a panel from the publication.
