What Happened

On January 18, 2013 a 19-year-old woman lost control of her vehicle and caused a multi-car accident. The accident occurred on I-64 near Lee Hall Avenue in Newport News, Virginia (VA).

Police say the young female ran off the right shoulder, struck a guardrail and spun back into traffic. She exited her car to try and get someone to stop and assist her. A tractor trailer tried to avoid the disabled vehicle but instead lost control and smashed into a pickup truck. Both the big rig and the truck caught on fire. The driver of the pickup truck was killed. The accident is still under investigation, but the first winter storm of the year could have been a key factor in the cause of the accident.

The Virginia Personal Injury Lawyers’ Perspective

Bad weather may have been a factor of this accident but it was the reckless driving of the young woman that started it all. Drivers who do not maintain a safe speed for bad weather conditions or are distracted while driving can lead to the most devastating accidents. As experienced Virginia (VA) car accident attorneys, we know just how serious any distraction can be. In this type of accident I strongly recommend obtaining the services of a Virginia (VA) car accident injury lawyer. Multi-car accidents can become extremely complicated, especially if you have legitimate claims against multiple insurance companies.
