A 55 year-old man riding a motorcycle in Vienna, Virginia near Washington, DC died on October 18 in a multi-vehicle crash on Leesburg Pike. The fatal motorcycle wreck happened near the Towlston Rd. intersection.

According to the responding police officers, a woman from Potomac Falls, Maryland was driving west on Leesburg Pike and failed to stop at the red light at Towlston Road. She hit the motorcycle, and the rider was thrown off into a vehicle that was waiting to turn left.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Charges are pending against the car driver.

It appears that the motorcyclist was driving legally and minding his business, and his life was cut short by a driver that failed to stop for a red light.

In this type of deadly motorcycle accident where the other driver is apparently clearly at fault, the grieving family – when the time is right – may want to consider their legal options. The motorcyclist was only 55 year old. His family and financial dependents may need funds to continue their lives without undue hardship. And, of course, they deserve compensation for the loss of a loved one.

We wrote our free guide What to Do If You Lost a Loved One In an Accident to help grieving families figure out their next steps in this type of wrongful death situation. We hope you find it helpful if you are forced to confront a tragedy.
