Woman Killed While Dropping Daughter at Virginia College

Comments Off

A prominent 57 year old California woman was killed after she was hit by a car as she was dropping off her daughter for her first year of college at the University of Virginia.

The crash occurred at 1 pm on Aug. 21, as a driver was making a left turn on a street in a shopping center near the University of Virginia campus.

The driver struck the woman, her husband and daughter. The husband and daughter had minor injuries, but the woman was seriously injured and died at the hospital.

The woman was the head of a large financial company in Los Angeles, and was a commentator on CNBC and Blloomberg. She also wrote a column for Forbes magazine.

Our View

Our hearts go out to the family in this car accident tragedy. Pedestrian accidents are all too common on colleges campuses as there is usually a high level of foot traffic near roads.

Given that the deceased was a prominent figure in the financial world, her family may consider a wrongful death lawsuit because she most likely had a high income and they will want to receive some sense of justice in this case. We have written a helpful guide entitled What to Do If You Lost a Loved One in an Accident. This guide can help you decide if filing a wrongful death lawsuit in your case is something you want to do.
