Virginia Beach Teen Dies from Car Accident Injuries

Comments Off

The Virginia Beach Police reported Sept. 17 that a teenager was hit by a car on Saturday morning, and has died from his injuries.

Police officers responded to the accident scene on Lynnhaven Parkway in Virginia Beach. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and died a few hours later. He was between the ages of 14 and 17.

The car driver stayed at the scene of the pedestrian accident. The police continue to investigate.

Our View

Pedestrian accidents are usually serious, and involve either serious personal injuries or death. One of the most common causes of Virginia pedestrian accidents is distracted driving.

Our Virginia car accident personal injury firm has represented pedestrian hit by distracted drivers. In one of those cases at Old Dominion University, a distracted driver hit our client. The accident threw him into the air and he lost consciousness.

He suffered injuries to his legs and face and he had to miss classes for several weeks. We settled that case for $67,000. The insurance company tried to argue contributory negligence because he was walking where there was no crosswalk, but we were able to settle the claim successfully.

The case above could be a Virginia wrongful death lawsuit, and the family should speak to a qualified attorney about this immediately.
