DWI Survivors and Victims’ Families Remember the Lost in Richmond

Comments Off

Richmond, Virginia residents whose lives have been shattered by drunk drivers met on the evening of November 21 to remember their loved ones who have been killed on Virginia’s roads by drunk drivers.

Some of the families meet each year under Christmas lights at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond, and remember their loved ones. They burn candles in their memory and their names are read from a long list of drunk driving victims.

As the holidays come around every year, there are many Virginia families who have someone missing because of the negligent actions of a drunk driver.

One woman whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver on Osborne Turnpike in 2014, stated that you never heal from this type of loss. It is with her every single day and the pain never fades.

According to MADD Virginia program director Christ Konschak, Thanksgiving and Christmas are always a hard time for families who lost a loved one or have been severely injured by a drunk driver.

Organizers of the event also took a moment to thank first responders who are usually the first ones who encounter the devastating aftermath of a drunk driving accident.

In 2015, 241 Virginians died in drunk driving crashes, and 4917 were injured.

Our View

Our Virginia drunk driving personal injury attorneys would like to pause and remember the victims of drunk driving in Virginia, as well as their families. We wish that drunk driving accidents would never, ever happen, and we wish all of those who have been affected by drunk driving all the best.

Our DWI personal injury law firm in Virginia does its best to discourage drunk driving in Virginia. We sue drunk drivers who injure and kill innocent people, which we hope will warn others to never get behind the wheel when they are drunk. One of our DWI attorneys won a $3.5 million verdict in Newport News, Virginia last year. It was a big award that got a lot of media attention, and we hope that it made some potential drunk drivers think twice.
